Flu Vaccine Update for February 8, 2010

Less than 100 people remain on our waiting list for flu vaccines as of today. Though we will continue to call these families, we also ask you to please call our office at this time if your child needs the H1N1 vaccine initial dose or booster dose, which is needed after 28 days following the initial dose for children under 10 years of age, or if you registered on our website and have not yet received a call.

The Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department also is holding clinics for the H1N1 vaccine. You can check their website at www.kalcounty.com to get updates on their clinics.

For seasonal flu vaccinations, we have in our office preservative free seasonal flu vaccine for our patients under 3 years of age as of the date of the injection. These children also need a booster dose after 28 days following the initial injection. If you need the initial or booster dose of this vaccine, please call our office to schedule an appointment.

For our patients over 3 years of age, we have administered all of the seasonal flu vaccines we received for our patients over 3. If your children still need their seasonal flu shot or mist, you can contact Visiting Nurses Services (VNS) for seasonal flu vaccine. They are holding regular seasonal flu clinics on a walk in basis. You can check the VNS website at www.flushot.borgess.com to check their vaccine clinic schedule. They have pediatric nurses available and can administer vaccines to children 6 months of age and older.

We no longer have the link to our flu vaccine waiting list here on our website. You now can call the office and we will schedule you in one of our clinics for available flu vaccines. You also are encouraged to use the resources listed above in cases where we may not have the necessary vaccine for your children.

Thank you so much for your understanding during this flu season. We appreciate your continuing to check this website and your continuing patience.
